What Does IWD Even Mean in 2025?

With the growing political divide between the genders, restriction of women’s reproductive rights in one of the most prominent countries in the world and the increase of male violence against women and girls described as a ‘national emergency’ by the National Police Chiefs’ Council. Whether consciously or not, these are just some of the things which trickle down into our day-to-day experiences, including within our businesses and our advertising. International Women’s Day is a time to recognise, support and celebrate women, and with that in mind, it’s just as important as ever, if not more.

To mark the occasion at Drummond Central, we’ll be celebrating the incredible local talent of female makers, artists and musicians in the North East, promoting the creatives and business owners that shape our local area all throughout March. Beyond showcasing their work and events, our employees will also have the opportunity to take part in The Girls’ Network mentoring scheme, helping to uplift and inspire young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. Female employees will also have access to resources they may need for career support within the creative industry.

To navigate International Women’s Day authentically, it has to be a conscious effort that’s considered every single day – not just on March 8th. That’s why we have an active DE&I team that spans across departments to ensure women are visible and appropriately represented in our work, as well as employees consistently being encouraged to complete the IPA Diversity and Inclusion course. There’s always more that can be done, and we’re using International Women’s Day as a strong reminder to continuously push for more.
