All good things must come to an end, with our two-week work experience program, School of DC, now all wrapped up.
For the seventh year running, we opened our doors to an ambitious bunch eager to get a real taste of the creative advertising industry. Our School of DC program is a great opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to experience the real-world workings of an agency – not to mention it's also paid.
This year's class consisted of: Charisse Saculingan, Aibhlis Strachan, Harry Card-Williams, Sullivan Alenezi and Nat Fisher. The cohort had all come from different backgrounds; with some still at university, whilst others had freshly graduated. Some were seeking hands-on experience, wanting to try something new and others were exploring a complete career switch.
The students were selected to form a mini agency, mirroring the different departments and roles within Drummond Central. And what did we do with this mini agency? We put them to work of course.
Our class was given a real brief for a real client, producing excellent work they presented to both the agency and the client. Throughout the two-weeks, they also attended shadowing sessions, portfolio workshops with our creative team and pitching masterclasses.
These lovely lot smashed it out of the park, but we’ll let them speak for themselves. Here’s what this year’s graduates had to say:
“I learnt a hell of a lot in such a short amount of time. From the get-go, we were totally thrown into agency life. We were treated just like the people working in the agency, which gave us confidence and ownership over our project.”
“I loved the collaboration that we had with the whole agency. It was really great to have so many people from different departments so happy and willing to help and share knowledge with us.”
“The program's culture really stood out, it made School of DC a really memorable experience that gave me a lot of insight into the industry and what a healthy agency looks like!”
“The program showed me that creative advertising is for me. I’ve figured out what it is I’m passionate about and I’m excited to pursue a creative pathway!”
A massive well done to the class of 2024. And to the students of 2025, we look forward to meeting you.
